Magickal Links Part II
Magickal links are either links from the target that you bring into the spell or working, or links from the spell or working that you bring to the target. I've already written about personal concerns and links from the target that you bring into the spell. This post is about links from your spell that you bring to the target.

WHY BRING LINKS FROM THE SPELL TO THE TARGET?
"But I have already used personal concerns as links to my target. Why do I need to bring links from the spell to my target too?"
The answer to this is simple.
By bringing links from the spell to the target, you create a foothold in this realm (the physical world) for your magic to take hold. You are essentially tying the magic to this realm and to the target's sphere/life, allowing it to take root.
This greatly increases both the impact of your working as well as the longevity of its effects.
In addition to that, if you are working with a spirit you can use the firm link that is created this way as a means to grant access to the spirit into the target's life to either keep pressuring the target (especially if you don't have easy physical access to the target to lay any more tricks) or to manipulate the magic if you need to make adjustments later on.
In addition to that, it's a way to enhance the effects of your magic that doesn't rely upon visualization skills or energy manipulation.
Bringing physical links from your magickal working to the target is something that most people can do, while visualization and energy manipulation is difficult for many people and even for those that have a natural talent for it, it usually requires some amount of practice to work reliably.
Plus, it is sometimes difficult to get your hands on a good link to the target (anyone who had to work with just a photo and whatever energetic link they have to the person raise your hand).
In cases like this, bringing components from your magickal working to the target might be exactly what is missing for your magic to succeed.
So, without further ado, here are the most common materia used to take the influence of the spell to your target:
POWDERS
Powders are a mix of different materia (usually plant and mineral but sometimes also zoological) that are ground into a fine powder.
The powder is either used as-is or mixed into talkum or corn starch. You can find many pre-made powders for specific uses or you can make your own according to traditional recipes. Ground roots or herbs are also often employed in a similar way to powders.
There are many ways to use a powder and how you chose to deliver it to the target depends on convenience, on the desired effect (hot foot, for example, is usually employed in such a way that the target will walk on it) or both.
When using powders, it's important to make sure that they won't be noticed. Shake the excess off any papers, mix the powder with the dirt so that it won't stand out when you are throwing it outside your target's house etc.
Here are some ways you can use powders:
Write a letter to your target and dust it with the powder. Shake off the powder so that it's not visible and then mail it to the target. If your target is not someone you would normally write a letter to or if you want to stay as anonymous as possible (especially for more baneful workings) you can dress a flyer of some kind and send it to them. What the text says is not as important; you just need to get the powder on the target.
Dust documents the same way before handing them to the target.
Put powder in their shoes or the inside of their socks.
Use the powder on their door, on a wall in their house, throw it next to their car so that they will walk on it, in front of their house etc.
Inside their car, by dusting their gas pedal for example or anything else they will touch or step on.
Dust a gift, the gift wrapper or even mix it into the gift (if the nature of the gift permits this).
Mixed into the target's cosmetic powder, so that they will keep dusting themselves with it.
Draw a sigil with the powder under a chair, behind a painting on the wall etc. You can also draw a spirit's sigil with the powder like that, to create a foothold in the target's life in addition to whatever effect the powder will have.
Dust your hands before touching or shaking hands with the target. You can keep a small amount of powder in a poison ring or locket so that you can use it in a pinch.
Dust an object or surface that your target will touch, such as a doorknob for example.
OILS
Many of the ways to use powders apply to oils too.
It's important to note though that not all of them do. Oils leave stains in ways powders don't for example, so don't go anointing documents with oil or you'll just make yourself look sloppy. Also be careful when applying oils on different objects and surfaces. Not only could the target notice that something is going on, but it could also be dangerous (if for example, you decide to use oil instead of a powder on someone's floor).
Having said that, here are some examples of ways to use oils, in addition to the ones already mentioned for powders or in cases where a powder wouldn't be practical:
A small amount mixed into the target's bottle of shampoo, shower gel, perfume etc.
Mixed in massage oil and used to give the target a massage.
Rub a couple of drops on your hands and anoint the steering wheel of someone's car (if it's leather or plastic instead of fabric). Make sure to use the tiniest amount so that it won't be slippery.
Dress a decorative candle, empowering it for the purpose of your working, and then gift to the target. If they chose to burn it, it empowers the magic. If they chose to keep it as decoration, it will still be influencing them as it will be in their space.
INCENSE
Incense is something most people think of as something that you only burn in ritual.
However, it can also be used as a link from your spell that you take to the target. Many magickal incense blends require that you bury the ashes in the target's garden or property for example.
There are types of incense blends (especially those for baneful work) that are mostly burned not in the temple but outside a person's home, to infuse their property with the magic. You can also burn the appropriate incense in your space right before or during a visit from the target.
BATHS AND BATH CRYSTALS
Bath crystals can be dissolved in water and used to rinse someone's clothes after you wash them (easier to do when the target is someone you live with or someone whose laundry you do).
They can also be put in a nice bottle or pack and gifted to the target. You can also dissolve them in water and baptize an object in it, let it dry and gift it to the target, as an alternative or in addition to dressing it with oils or powders.
MOJO BAGS AND BOTTLE SPELLS
In addition to the above, it is often common to bury what is left after a spell (leftover wax, petition papers etc) in the target's property (in the garden, under their doorstep etc).
Some types of mojo bags (especially ones for protection or cursing of some kind) are meant to be buried in the target's property so that they can have an ongoing effect on them. Similarly, there are bottle spells that are also meant to be buried in the target's property.
PERSONAL CONCERNS
This is the opposite use of personal concerns than the one I wrote about in the first post about magickal links.
Here, you don't use the target's personal concerns in a spell. What you do instead is bring your personal concerns to the target as a means of influencing and dominating them.
Urine is used to influence a target for love by placing a drop on something he or she is going to touch. It is also used in workings of domination (especially of a more baneful nature) where you pee on an effigy of the target and then tie the effigy, put it in a jar with cursing materials etc.
The most widely-known way of using personal concerns to link your working to the target though is the use of sweat, urine, vaginal fluids, semen and most commonly menstrual blood by putting a small amount in the target's food or beverage.
Personally, I'd beat the hell out of anyone who tried to put something like that in my food or drink (and not even for the magickal effect; just because of the yuck factor and the health hazard) but it's traditional so I'm mentioning it here regardless.
It is your choice whether you want to use something like that in this way or not. Just remember: practicing magic may not put you in jail in most western countries, but jacking off into your co-worker's coffee probably will. Seriously. Don't be like this guy.
